went to the art classroom yesterday, and a bunch of us kids ate good mexican food and painted/did nothing for four hours or so.
now i just want a whole bunch of friends and to turn a garage into a studio just so we can do stuff like that everyday whilst going about conversations about the universe and existence. we’ll play music ranging from the roaring 1920’s to the amazing 80’s. We’ll recite poems, draw, sketch, paint, play music and be like beat kids sipping on beer, falling in and out of love with the world as we bear our souls to each other. Because when we depart, we fall back into the cacophony of harsh reality and our souls will retract back into our bodies, but will never forget that we were infinite in those moments of yesterday.
I am so close to just pulling out any random pair of jeans and reconstructing it right now. I WANT SHORTS. god i never thought i’d ever say(or type) those words, cause I’m not a…leggy kind of gal more like…stumpy and hammy kind, but california is melting and I can’t pick up my moka pot and ice pop molds (cause I only get around by walking, and who wants to walk in 112˚F weather?) So now I can’t make my coffee pop recipe, which I’ve changed up a bit for this momentous weather. The original recipe is pretty much vietnamese coffee but in pop form. My little change in it is to add almonds
I call it: WAKE UP! IT’S 102˚F ( or 39˚C) IN THE MORNING!
So yeah. I want to make shorts. and morning coffee pops. and it goes like this:
(extremely flexible recipe whether you like your coffee to taste like milk, or your milk to taste like coffee, there is no definite measurement because you can decide your milk to coffee ratio) NOTE: you do want the overall flavor to be slightly stronger than what you normally prefer because the flavor loses intensity a bit after frozen.
1. Espresso coffee (if you want it instant, go ahead)
2. Condensed milk
Alternative to condensed milk: Milk and honey/sugar
Make your espresso coffee. Brewing method = doesn’t matter. While that’s getting made, pour out your condensed milk or milk and honey into a separate bowl. Then pour the coffee into the milk. Stir. Strain.
Again this recipe is flexible, so you can add chocolate, vanilla. Heck! Maraschino cherries if you wanted to. But since this for me is gonna be a little more breakfast-y (i guess). I’m gonna add thinly sliced almonds and a dash of almond extract. Again completely optional and possibilities are endless.
Pour into molds. pop them into freezer. Enjoy on your 102˚F (39˚C) morning. You get your caffeine fix, your calcium. This isn’t your breakfast popsicle, it’s your morning popsicle when the temperature outside is crazy. So grab that banana or granola bar while you’re on your way out.
I don’t know what is magical about the coffee I’m drinking, but it makes me feel a little better. oh wait. yeah its caffeine. I’m mostly likely to crash ETA in… . ten minutes. maybe less. i’m trying to draw demeter, greek goddess of the harvest and earth. you know. grains and junk. I can’t get her hands. Because i drew her in a direction where her left hand is showing. I happen to be left handed, so i can’t use my left hand for reference because…well it’s holding the pencil. Been listening to a lot of The XX and Phantogram still. That one Freelance Whales song on repeat. And some sad bob dylan. Whenever I’m sick, I become a temporary vegetable with my headphones superglued to my ears. I’m not so sure what the exact point of this post is, but I don’t know, my fuzzy head tells me that I like to type. and yeah. I didn’t get that moka pot yet, and those popsicle molds :( but I am determined to get them tomorrow. Even if I have to crawl my way to get to them.
feeling yucky. glugging tea like there’s no tomorrow, and some how getting worse? I don’t know. What I need is a super giant needle of adrenaline cause I’ve got a buttload of work to finish for this weekend. UGH I hate being so behind.
and OH! did anyone catch yesterday’s FRINGE?! TOTAL AMAZINGNESS AWESOMENADFADKFJAFKJDFKJAFKJADLFKJA WALTER IS SO DAMN FUNNY/CUTE. i love that old man. Peter’s hot, so is olivia. okay I’m off to get a tea refill
night. ruined. all downhill. so much work left to do.
I have no desire to do any of it. I just want to sit and eat my swedish fish till i feel like I’m me again. Unfortunately I’ve got to save those fish for tomorrow.
Suddenly no amount of tea or coffee can make me happy (okay thaaaat’s a bit of an overstatement)
i actually will have some more tea. and more homeopathics to get rid of the darned cold.
then I will sit and stare at my work till I can see my hands picking up pencils and writing down words and numbers. If my hands do not end up picking up pencils, it’s most likely that they will pick up my knitting, or food.
i came down with a slight cold and itchy throat this morning. I hate getting sick. even if it’s just a little. It’s too much of a hassle.
So I’m glugging lots of tea with honey :( no lemons and no chicken soup either. Double pooey. I am very tempted to just pick up a can right now, or to just make some. But I’m swamped with papers and articles to read etc.
ooh and i tried something interesting today. I added jelly beans to my dry cheerios today. Ran out of milk. Huh. I seem to be running out of a lot of things. If there are no eggs, I might implode. ANYWAY… my favorites will always be the lemon or lime flavors and that’s just in general with all candy for me. Green and yellow are the best. The peach one is pretty great too. But I individually picked out yellow, green, and peach jellybeans and dropped them into a cup of cheerios. It was like a little surprise in every other bite. It reminds me about how Roald Dahl described a meat pie in Danny, the Champion of the World.
i had this amazing cold noodle dish today. I took the recipe and altered it a tiny bit though.
It was cold sesame noodles and it was so good! I topped it off with a little bit of scallions (green onions) and a poached egg. There is nothing more perfect than a good poached egg.
One tbsp of ground sesame paste (can be found in asian market)
1/2 tbsp of sweet rice vinegar or just rice vinegar (same difference to me)
1/2 tbsp of soy sauce
you can just double for more.
Noodles: go to the asian market for the noodles. Just any noodle would do fine, but if you want to go into specifics, a yellow noodle is ideal. Boil. Chill with ice water. Drain. Add sauce. voila! You can pretty much add whatever you want. I added my poached egg, but you can always add some pieces of chicken, some chopped veggies, etc. The noodles are nice and has a slight chewiness to them, so they’re not mushy. Mushy cold noodles = bad. The vinegar is sweet but adds a nice tang, and the soy just to bring out the sweet and nuttiness to the sesame. It’s great. try it.
This is currently my go-to dish when I want something quick and easy. TOMORROW I WILL ACQUIRE THE MOKA POT AND ICEPOP MOLDS! I MUST. I SHALL NOT FAIL. if i do. then i’ll try again.
